Obama congratulates Najib

They were both late but Obama could afford to make this call or not at all. The other was none other than our PM.

I asked myself if this means the elections were honest and fair, not in the absolute sense but as commonly practiced everywhere else.

What I know is America needs Malaysia cooperation for it is foreign policy objectives in Asia and the Muslim world. It is also the administration way of telling UMNO who they would like to work with. This should help shore up Najib to continue as PM. I think many of us want Najib to continue with the trajectory he had started, which he had hoped would help him perform better in the last elections.

The Malaysian elections is the most powerful reminder to me what I learned from Alvin Toffler in the 80s. That the technology for lying is advancing faster than that for uncovering lies.  It is a pity that Malaysia do not have those fact checking sites like the US have. Till now I could not tell who and what Chua Lai Fatt is. The journalists in this part of the world is not stepping up to the challenge either.

  1. 1.Obama in Malaysia on Oct 11, only if he is not fighting his impeachment on the Benghazi & IRS scandals.

2.If Obama is able to escape the scandals, he will be arrested by the Malaysian Islamic Authorities for is "Apostasy" from Islam and probably he will be incarcerated in an "Islamic Institution" that will teach him the error of his wayward path from the true religion.

  2. PETALING JAYA: The United States Embassy here must relay to the White House evidence of electoral fraud in the recent 13th general election.

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim made this statement today in response to Barack Obama’s telephone call to Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak on Tuesday, in which the US president congratulated Najib on his success in getting the mandate from the people to continue leading Malaysia.

Obama also expressed his understanding and acceptance of the process and results of the country’s recently concluded GE13.

“I don’t think he (Obama) is privy to the fact that there is a huge feeling of anger and rage against mass rigging and fraud,” Anwar told a press conference here.

“I hope the US embassy will help facilitate all the relevant information and material,” he added.

Anwar noted that the US had also recognised Ferdinand Marcos’ regime in the Philippines and Hosni Mubarak’s regime in Egypt.

“Do you accept the electoral process where media is not free?” he asked.
