Bloomberg: Reminder on Internet Privacy

Today it was Bloomberg Inc., that was caught for snooping on their customers. Tomorrow it could (make it will be) Google. As circumstances change, corporate policies and behavior will adapt. Google when it was small and now as a hegemon are two very different realities. Just like Gou Jian was a prisoner under Fu Chai and afterward when he had vanquished him.

That's why I never believe that if I had locked up this blog, it would be private not to mention secret. And just because you can't imagine how privacy would be compromised doesn't mean it wouldn't. Very simply if you have to think in scenarios, which ones would tempt Google; which ones would be financially rewarding, and which ones they have high confidence of not being caught.

Just as Deng and Suharto left no written record what they wanted to keep secret at all costs, so the shrewd netizen must do the same regarding putting up information on the Internet.

In cyberspace you cannot be imaginative enough.
