This government would never admit it. Foreigners living here are clueless about it. The reason why the government is now attempting the "impossible" of multi-agencies cooperation is because Singaporeans are very demanding. It is us and not them that make sure standards here are high. The government had let the ball dropped and see the backlash they suffered.
They claim they are very hard working but we must not confuse hard working with busy. They were and always busy. I am not so sure about hard working. We as a specie are by nature lazy. Hard work takes effort but you can get use to being busy and pass it off as hard working.
Henry Ford once said he had the hardest job in the world. Those factory hands had it easy, and they are just busy. Ford on the other hand had to think and think a lot.
I am afraid we Singaporeans will always have to be watchful and very demanding of the government or else they will become lazy and just busy. Finally they are learning to be hard working and do the really useful things. I hope they are motivated enough to pull this off. In the early days of this republic we try even harder because it was a matter of life and death. Once you are passed that people just aren't as motivated but they like to lie to themselves that they are. Yep, another feature of our specie is belief in self serving lies. That's why Parliament cannot be without opposition MPs. Real opposition, and not NMPs.
