Just love this photo I found in the ST today celebrating National Day :-) It connects the old with modernity. In the background I think are upgraded old flats but the marbles are resting on the high tech material that paved the playgrounds these days.
I have many fond memories of collecting and shooting marbles. Yesterday my daughter won a prize for shooting marbles in school too.
Unlike other countries they have the space to preserve their memories, but for many of us we will have to make do with using the latest technology and creative work to remember them. This a brutal fact of life for us, but it also evidence that we view the needs of the next generation to be more important than ours. Very un-Confucian, deservedly so.
Record everything, keep blogs like this one. May be with enough data we can make it very realistic when the technology becomes available to create a holodeck experience some day.
