We lost in this elections and I am afraid too few people are not aware of it yet. We lost not just because in Aljunied GRC there can only be one winning team. We lost because from here on politics in Singapore will no longer be aligned with the nation. Because the narrow interest of the dominant party trumps the interest of Singapore. Because the PAP no longer feel secure behind the high wall of the GRC barrier. Their instinct is to fix the opposition. They are not even embarrassed about professing it! Shameless.
I hope this situation is temporary or we shall descend into the mess like many countries are in. The patience and forebearance of the WP will be sorely tested by the PAP in the days ahead. The PAP has the wrong people. The right people and there are too few of them at the moment are in the WP. The shorthand for the PAP missing the right people is that it cannot make itself attractive to the good guys that have appeared in this elections. The wrong guys, might as well call them the bad apples will prevent the good guys from getting in.
Let's see if the PAP becomes populist. I hope voters are intelligent enough to see through them. Meanwhile they will go about perfecting the Art of the Apology for political ends. The old guard run the place in such a way that they never need to apologize. They gave their lives to this place.
We are now at stage 1 cancer of the moral corruption in the PAP.
I am glad voters are discerning which is the better opposition party. The PM political apology had prevented them from getting in. I hope in many of them, the WP will be contesting the next time.
Just like bad money drives out good money, bad political players drives out good ones. The rot has started and mushrooms are growing on dead wood. The future is not very bright for our children.
