Speaker of Parliament Resigns

News like these I want to record but not so keen to share what I think. Of course it is a huge disappointment. I can't help feeling that the quality of the PAP is slipping. PAP leaders do not seem to be as good as some old guard ministers at selecting people. They claimed to have invested a lot in technology to help them but unless you are playing man vs chess, the machine can usually be gamed.

It has been two hours since the news broke. I went to collect any comment post with more than 10 likes.

Wong Hong Teng is every where and he seemed to have attracted many "likes".

I think if the PAP want to be sure that they win in a by election, they better ask George Yeo to return. We need him as foreign minister again. With what is brewing in the South China Sea we need him more than ever. Next to Raja he is the best man for the job.

  • Wong Hong Teng See the huge difference. PAP VS WP
PAP - No mention of by-election at all.(Did the PAP care about the residents there?)
WP-By-election must take place immediately so there would be an MP serving them there.

PAP- No condemn against Michael Plamer, instead LHL letter is full of praise against him.
    WP- Condemn YSL actions.

PAP _ No famous quote from LHL;"The PAP had let the voters of Punggol East residents down?

PAP- Full of smearing against WP for YSL saga.
    WP- None yet

Therefore Wp should contest there and PAP have to pay the price for letting the voters down. Looking forward for rally and this time round, luck is on WP sides.

  • Wong Hong Teng Why is the PM not saying his famous quote:" The PAP has let the voters of Punggol East SMC down? No mention of by-election. Does he care about the residents there at all? And why his letter does not condemn Plamer actions, instead his letter is full of praise against him. Very double standard if that person is from your own party.

  • Wong Hong Teng Why did the PAP does not mention how long is that extra-relationship? How long does this going on already? Why is there no update on how the Punggol SMC without an MP? Who is that lady? Did they going for a a by-election? Where is the transpency from the jokes PAP? Retribution.

When WP sad caught in the same situation, WP is concern of the Hougang residents well-being and demand the by-election to be right away. Now the PAP are all silent of the by-election.

  • Henry Chai Accusations made by PAP against WP during the YSL saga can now be OFFICIALLY used in the same MANNER against the pappies, people called that retribution 报应啊!

  • Eadric Ng i wonder if there'll be a follow up and all the digging and all the hounding by the reporters like the YSL case.

  • Jun Yuan Lim When YSL's sex scandal broke up, remember how the ruling party pressed for transparency, accountability, and they even questioned WP for their choice of members?

What goes around comes around - Now I wanna see how transparent, and accountable they are... Somemore Michael Palmer IS a speaker of parliament, handpicked by them... So what does this say about their selection?

And also, can I say that they have let the residents in Punggol-East SMC down, and they deserve someone better (in the Worker's Party)?

  • Guo Xiongwei It's a SMC! People of Punggol East who do NOT want their town council fees or whatever cost of living to go UP, please vote for OPPOSITION!
Give an alternative a chance to learn so they can be better for your benefits; vote another NEW PAP, it's just $15k to a zho-bo NEW PAP MP who will follow NEW PAP's goal to get u to Pay-And-Pay!

  • Erwin Lee Actually we can be very gracious but who was the one keep biting on the YSL saga? Who spoke the loudest? Who was the one criticising the selection process of WP? YSL chose to hide but WP took the brave decision to sack him and risked losing Hougang. Now this Michael Palmer has to leave no matter what. He has to admit. He is the House Speaker, technically "higher post" than YSL in Parliament. PAP cannot afford to take anymore risk. "Kiang tio ho, mai gei kiang". U set the rules of the game, u have to abide.

  • Wong Hong Teng PAP laughed at WP when YSL was caught in a relationship, now the PAP also tio caught the same situation, this is what I call retribution.

  • Ngeow Shan Rui The PAP needs to come clean with the people what information have they got about Mr Palmer and in particular, what did they know about him prior to the May 2011 election. And if they know, why did they field Mr Palmer. I think it is sad that the voters have been misled by the PAP.

Do I sound familiar, especially Mr Khaw? ^^

  • Au Kah Kay PAP has no choice but to expel him from the party. When Yaw Shin Leong of WP admitted to his inappropriate affair with another WP member, the WP held a press conference to announce the expulsion of Yaw. PAP MPs weighed in on the issue and said that WP had let down residents of Hougang. Now, PAP has let down residents of Pasir Ris Punggol GRC.
