Chinese workers no longer prefer Singapore

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/eastasia/view/1241278/1/.html

This government since years ago unable to keep our economy sufficiently far ahead of the curve had resorted to plucking the low hanging fruits of importing foreigners. The hard work of raising productivity and reinventing businesses were too slow.

History has repeatedly shown that making such labour deals were Faustian. It has now come back to bite us. In the end we still have to return even if very late in the day of putting in the hard work I just pointed out in the prior paragraph.

Here are some comments after an hour of exposure on Facebook.

  • Foo Jason Wherever they go to work, it would be the same mindsets and mentality if they do not practice rightful mind of working ethically through communications on proper channel for their grievances and woes.

  • Wj Tan "They say this is because the wage gap between the 2 countries has narrowed."
"It just shows how our salaries have stagnated over the years."

    exactly.. so painfully true.

Eng-Joo Gay and Wj Tan points are particularly pertinent  All those lost years of opportunities of reworking, reinventing our enterprises! True, we wouldn't have grown as quickly or as rich but at least the quality of growth would be much higher and durable. What we now have is a rich country but a huge wealth divide that simply means most of us aren't richer as the country has become. We have also allowed the gap between China and us to narrow far more quickly.

  • Aki Lee This is good news for us!
So,isnt it time to focus 100% on local talents?Advising us to make more babies but giving more jobs to foreigners.People have no job,how to survive?u think Foreigners give us monthly allowance to feed the babies U advised us to make ah?

  • Arvyn Vin Take them all back.. If your country really are paying them tt high, ask them to work there, and for them to go to Europe? With their "engerish" It's making me wonder what jobs are they going there for to get paid 5x higher or get laid?

  1. "We have also allowed the gap between China and us to narrow far more quickly."

Conclusion: The Singapore govt and the employers are in cahoot to keep wages down so as to amass fortunes for themselves at the expense of the citizens of Singapore.

Which other govt in the world would resort to such an irresponsible and immoral tactics and in effect RUINING instead of improving the economy and lives of the citizen.

Certainly, uniquely irresponsible and reprehensible economic, social and political policies!

"Lai...ah. Phar thar lar choo chee, KHAN." -Often seen and heard in Chinese film about corrupt emperors and court officials.

Translation: "Off with his head." As in Alice in Wonderland!

  2. Note the similarity between the 'stop at two' policy and the 'open immigration' policy?

Both are on population and more precisely, human resources.

Both are or became, SHORTSIGHTED policies, when the initial runaway success of these necessarily short term policies blinded the policy makers (including senior civil servants responsible for implementation)to the boomerang or pendulum that is coming their way when the policy impact reaches stasis and the boomerang and pendulum begins to swing back!

  3. Well when the supply dries up and we are unable to get cheap labour, the government will simply turn around and claim credit that it has stopped the flow of foriegners and has listened to the population after the national con-versation. Thats how good they are at claiming credit. The founding father has set the example for this
