US Government shuts down

The last time the US government shut down I was too young and inexperienced to understand its implications. Seventeen years later they have done the ignominious act again. Shame on you lawmakers of a Superpower. Don't you think Americans deserve better. What should I say about you? Well it is not my place to comment and I have read the colorful language Mark Twain had heaped on you, i.e., Congressmen have never changed. Welcome to America eh?

I am more worried about the measure to elevate the debt ceiling in the middle of this month. I hope they aren't callous and stupid enough to botch that one. See where your elections funds are coming from and you jolly well know what to do. The worry of course are members who have caught and stuck inflexibly to an ideology, but last I checked only the extremist Muslims were prepared to die for their convictions even if a sizable number of them were tricked into blowing themselves up.

Over time will our political leaders become like the Americans and elsewhere? We have no defense against that constitutionally and culturally. Meanwhile Hollywood can continue to successfully sell scripts painting the government black.

Update: October 3, 2013

Whitehouse site is not fully operational. Nothing seems to have changed at the Congress website.
