Not voting Tony Tan next round

A post to help me remember not to vote for Tony Tan at the next Presidential Elections. May be he should just opt not to run. It would surely make him look better.

After more than a year, it looks like SR Nathan which we had issues was clearly even better than TT. To me he is going down as our worst President. Sure you have no executive authority but you didn't even have a moral compass to offer or words of fatherly wisdom like Wee Kim Wee used to galvanize us.

I am not surprised he MIA when he was sorely needed. We had to pressure the PM to act on the AIM issue. When TKL and TCB weighed in, it was already too late for the incumbent to do anything to resolve the issue.

  1. Maybe behind the scenes, he "cocok" PM? And the result is that the PM had to hold this enquiry?

But even if that was the case, the problem is that he is an ELECTED President. By the people. And therefore, answerable to the people.

As an elected President, he cannot just work behind the scenes, on an issue like this that involve public funds when his mantra is to defend the use and appropriation of public funds. That's his #1 job responsibility, isn't it? So on this particular issue, just acting quietly behind the scenes alone, is not enough.

He should have spoken up publicly. Yes, he may not hang anyone in his public statement or make any allegation. Something mild like TCB or even milder. But being seen to be publicly speaking up on such an issue, is a must.

I think he still acted as though he's a minister in a cabinet - more effective to work behind the scenes. But that's not why we have an elected, independent President.

  2. The most surprise is when I saw Tony Tan in the Anglican Church near Mindef Road, praying to our creator and asked for forgiveness, like the rest of all.
