Boy, 7, is his nearly blind granny's eyes

Bear this in mind. This is what the grandmother said:


"But I will continue to sell newspapers. I'm sure people around my stall will help me.
"I don't want to go to an old folks' home or elderly centre. I want to be independent," she said.

Because often do gooders assume they know what those who they help want.

Don't mix up doing good with real charity, I mean charity in the old fashioned sense.

  1. Wow,our government takes it that most old people in Singapore want to work until theey drop dead!I am old but do not wish to work till I drop dead.
