City Harvest Church can borrow from the Mormons

My friend from Seattle just sent me the link to this article in Businessweek: How the Mormons Make Money.

I think if City Harvest Church gets the chance to grow up, they might become something like the Mormon church? Of course this is too far fetched as Singapore is too small. It would need to spread its wing beyond here to make this happen.

What I find really intriguing about the article is how the American government allows them to operate with opaque finances but not Singapore's law.

I am not a lawyer but I see the legal vs the moral issues here. They can end up guilty as charged but the victory is only inside the courtroom if the church mount a successful PR campaign for their argument. The Mormon church practices can be used to bolster their case. Well may be not if they consider Mormonism a cult.

  1. Give me all your money in Jesus' name! Kong Hee has been using the name of god to cheat millions of people from around tge world. Finally the law has catch up with him and he will have to be punished for his evil deeds. Pastor Kong please stop cheating the money of Singapore students and young working professionals, we are stupid enough to believe in your stupid crossover project to steal money from us.

  2. City Harvest Church Pastor Kong Hee's ultimate plan is to plan Sun Ho and little Dayan in the US. So that he can sell off Suntec City shares bit by bit and transfer the money to US without anyone finding out. Too bad CHC is charity now and he will be famous in history with the same outcome as NKF and Ren Ci. We need to stop this guy from buying all the subtrc city shares and transfer all our money to US!

  3. Even if you are a pastor doesn't mean you have the right to steal money in Singapore. Its okay to psycho your church members to sell their HDB flats to give to "god". Everyone in Singapore has to pay ten percent income tax to CHC before you can be member. If this goes on our ruling party may have to change its name from PAP to CHC.

  4. Pastor kong has a new calling. god wants him to spend the next twenty years in changi resort to convert everyone there. Too bad they don't have any HDB flats to sell to give to him. He is surely crossing over to reach out to the "real" sinners this time. May be he can start by buying the shares of Changi Resort, don't think he can transfer the money to US.

  5. For the past twenty years Kong Hee has forgotten to issue a receipt for offerings. For some strange reason the money disappeared into thin air. When asked why the money disappeared, he said it was given to god. But when we checked with god he said he never receive a single cent from him. god says that he doesn't use singapore dollars in heaven, everything in heaven is free of charge.

  6. 'My reputation has been tarnished': NUS alumni dr rev kong hee. Did is take the offerings and put it into your own pocket? Did you transfer the money to US? Did you make people sell their HDB flats to give to you? How to be vindicated like that? You think the judge is a three year old like your cell group kar kias?

  7. Aiya, fight what fight? Waste money only, all our singapore students and young working professionals hard earned money. Time to pay back some income tax you have collected over the past twenty years, fight some more later kena heavy fine then you know. Better return all the money you have taken from our fellow singaporeans over the past twenty years, otherwise later end up in changi resort for the rest of your life.

  8. Everyone should go and watch his recorded webcast every week and also buy a copy of all his sermons for the past twenty years, all the evidence is there already, how to run away from it? Pastor Kong everything you say is recorded on video, audio, youtube, facebook, twitter, blog, even god can not save you this time.

  9. Lucky never sell HDB flat to give to Kong, lose every cent you give. Otherwise later he use the money to pay for his lawyer's salary. Billionaire Kong Hee has a lot of money to burn, no worries, he will sacrifice every single cent to stay out of changi resort.

  11. Kong Hee is now in Changi Resort, but pretends to be overseas on one million dollars bail. Why does he want to bluff people using the media? Everyone in Singapore has never heard from him ever since he went "overseas" to Changi Resort in the US.
