Do learn to take more risk

WSJ have some pretty pictures of the day which I occasionally look at. This one is from June 28 and it reminded me of a post to this blog which didn't happen until now.

I came across this on June 14 and since then I can still remember what's in this story - Khoo Swee Chiow excellence in managing risk.

The worst way to deal with risk is to avoid it completely. That in itself is taking huge long term catastrophic risk unaware.

The best way to live with risk is to embrace it after rejecting the silly ones. In fact there is no other way to keep growing.

Your investment adviser will tell you to take less risk with age. Sadly this is true for far too many people. Had more of us keep growing even as we are way past physically growing and starting to age, we should be positioned to assume more and more risk as our ability to manage them grow.

Khoo Swee Chiow has got it right.
