Jimmy Carter successful immunotherapy treatment

This news is only a few hours old. On Sunday Jimmy Carter broke the news that his cancer is gone. We are very short of peace makers and it is good we still have him with us, all of 91 years old.

I thought I had blogged about him leaving the Southern Baptist Convention but I couldn't find it. Two times I had mentioned him here and they were sometime back in 2010.

I never appreciated why LKY was so openly disdainful of Carter. I guess this sentiment is completely shared by Henry Kissinger as well lots of the American elites. As a kid I vividly remember Carter brokering the peace between Egypt and Israel in one of the covers of Time Magazine. I also remember his public display of pessimism and especially the botched rescue effort in Tehran of American hostages. Well it has been many years and now I appreciate that he was no politician but a statesman. How is that possible? Well Jimmy Carter made it so.

I digress because what I truly wanted to write about is cancer but these stories are too personal and I never (proven over and over again at others' expense) believe anything on the Web can remain private. Suffice to say Carter's successful immunotherapy treatment gives me hope for many of my cancer stricken friends. I wonder why I know so many people enduring cancer. That is a far harder question to answer than why so many have lost the fight such that I am often not hopeful for those still fighting. Of course I am most hopeful about those on immunotherapy treatment. I like the science of this stuff as well.

I have learned much about God from walking alongside cancer sufferers but I guess this is also not the time to say more yet.

Old Keyboard Story

I thought I had thrown this (Cordless Desktop Wave) away but could never remember I did that. This must be like 9 years old? I pulled it out from the deepest recess of the cupboard just now. Very old tech, no tiny Logitech unifying receiver but a huge one. On the other hand very tough and sturdy.

Size wise I think it is far too big and takes up too much precious desk space. I have half a mind of throwing it away.

New keyboard: mk330

I must be pounding the keyboard more than ever. The spare K270 is too painful for prolonged use, not to mention quite noisy as well. The best keyboard are now designed for use with a bluetooth connection but my old, fast and reliable Notebook do not come with Bluetooth. This limits my choice.

Logitech mk330 at $41 after 30% discount? I bought one today. Indeed a noticeable improvement over the K270

Which Bathroom Tissues

For a long time we didn't know we were buying APP paper products. So when the haze came upon SG and we punished them for being a contributor to the pollution, Fairprice and other supermarts removed APP goods from the shelves. Now we have to select by trial and error which bathroom tissues to buy again.

We began by taking a chance with this and it was a poor choice.

Nothing remotely like gold at all. Since we got it, we used all of it promising ourselves never to buy any more.

On one visit to Fairprice, a promoter was curiously carrying a toilet roll and recommending this.

Excellent choice. It performs as advertised. No details necessary eh?

AirAsia Flight 8501 Crash

I read the more candid Bloomberg story of the investigators' findings. It was an accident waiting to happen.

The warning sign were flashing redder than my red underline!

Looks like the company assume the plane is so good and reliable to take care of itself they could save money on pilots training.

The crew and passengers on board that flight was just unlucky eh? The vast majority of planes continue to take off, fly and land safely. This is not the attitude that got us here safely. Air Asia have a lot of explaining and rectifications to do.

This is pretty much the Malaysian and Indonesian work attitude isn't it? Approximately good is good enough.
