Sex, lies, leadership: An inevitable threesome?

Jonathan Marshall an assistant professor at the LKY school of public policy contributed this to the ST.

From the faith perspective, I would like add King David an even more egregious example. Not only was he adulterous, he also murdered Uriah. But he had one thing in his favor. He quickly confessed when he recognized that he cannot hide the truth.

Is Dr. Marshall begging for a lower moral standard for national leaders? I think he missed the other more important angle. Had these eminent achievers not had their moral failings, they were likely to perform even better. It is just fortunate that their shortcomings did not stop them from great acts.

I don't know why he added Mao to the list. That guy was an unambiguous monster.

Well, I would say don't get caught if you indulge. Be prepared to pay the price if you do. We must still uphold and expect the highest standard of moral conduct from our leaders.
